Rode a 250 around a parking lot for 2 days during safety school. Over all it performed and rode better than the 250 Honda, which was our other choice. I rode the Suzuki because it appeared to be so much like my Savage. It's about the same height and is a little lighter, but the power difference is considerable. If your wife and daughter don't have any experience, it's not a bad place to start, but they should quickly outgrow it. A Savage would be a better choice unless you just want something to play with. Or you could check to see what a local safety class uses. Maybe they could try one along with the course.
